Veo is sold through Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra, not per clip. Pro gives 1,000 Flow credits a month; the quality tier burns them quickly and the unused ones do not roll over. If you only make a few clips a month, or a lot in one week, per-second billing is cheaper and simpler.
Eight seconds
Veo 3.1 clips are capped at 8 seconds; extending means stitching. Seedance 2.5 and Wan 3.0 run to 30 seconds in one generation, MiniMax H3 to 15.
Brand churn
Google folded Veo into the "Gemini Omni" family in August 2026 and the free tier gained a 360p draft mode. Nothing broke, but people who build workflows around a name get nervous. The alternatives below have stable per-second APIs.
