Kling AI Pricing Explained (2026): Plans, Credits, and What One Video Really Costs

The short version

Kling AI sells video generation three ways: a monthly or yearly subscription that drops credits into your account, one-off credit packs at a fixed 66 credits per dollar, and a separate developer API priced per second of output. If you only read one paragraph, read this:

  • Cheapest paid entry: Standard at $6.99 for the first month, then $8.80 a month for 660 credits. That is about $1.33 per 100 credits on renewal.
  • Best value per credit: Ultra yearly at $1,429.99 for 312,000 credits a year, about $0.46 per 100 credits. Pro yearly ($293.04, $0.81 per 100) is the realistic sweet spot for most solo creators.
  • Extra credits never get cheaper than $1.25 per 100 (packs of 16,000 and up), so a subscription beats top-ups the moment you generate regularly.
  • Subscription credits expire one month after they are issued and vanish when the subscription ends. Purchased credits last two years. Daily login bonuses expire the same day.
  • The free tier is real but limited: monthly free credits, one video per generation, no 1080p or 4K, a watermark, and no commercial rights.

Prices below are US dollars as shown on kling.ai to a logged-out visitor on 9 September 2026. Kling changes promotions often; treat first-month discounts as temporary and the renewal price as the real price.

Subscription plans: monthly vs yearly

Kling has four paid tiers. Each shows three numbers on the checkout page: a discounted first month, the price it renews at, and a crossed-out list price. The column that matters for budgeting is the renewal price, so the dollars-per-100-credits figure below uses that, not the promotional first month.

Monthly plans

PlanFirst monthRenews atList priceCredits / month$ per 100 credits (renewal)
Standard$6.99$8.80 / mo$10660$1.33
Pro$25.99$32.56 / mo$373,000$1.09
Premier$64.99$80.96 / mo$928,000$1.01
Ultra$127.99$159.99 / mo$18026,000$0.62

Kling's own "100 credits = $x" label on the plan cards is calculated from the first-month price ($1.06, $0.87, $0.81 and $0.49). Once the discount ends you pay the renewal figures above.

Yearly plans

PlanPer yearList priceWorks out toCredits / year$ per 100 credits
Standard$79.20$120$6.60 / mo7,920 (660 × 12)$1.00
Pro$293.04$444$24.42 / mo36,000 (3,000 × 12)$0.81
Premier$728.64$1,104$60.72 / mo96,000 (8,000 × 12)$0.76
Ultra$1,429.99$2,160$119.17 / mo312,000 (26,000 × 12)$0.46

Yearly plans are paid up front but the credits are still released month by month, and each month's batch still expires 31 days after it lands. Paying yearly does not let you bank a year of credits for one big project.

What each tier actually unlocks

The credit count is only half the price. Several features are gated by tier rather than by credits, and the free tier is deliberately restricted.

Basic (free) accounts get

  • A monthly allowance of free credits for non-subscribers (the amount is shown in-app and changes with promotions).
  • One video per generation, standard queue only.
  • No 1080p or 4K output, and a Kling watermark on every clip.
  • Personal use only. Commercial use is reserved for paid subscribers.

All paid subscribers get

  • Daily free login credits on top of the monthly allowance (claimed on first login each day, reset at midnight, expire the same day).
  • Unlimited generation queue and fast-track processing.
  • 1080p and 4K output and watermark removal.
  • Commercial use rights for the content you generate.
  • Up to 4 videos per generation on Pro and above (Standard is limited to 1).

Tier-specific limits

  • Custom "Element" (character or object) slots: 30 on Standard, 50 on Pro, 150 on Premier and Ultra.
  • Videos per generation: 1 on Standard, 4 on Pro, Premier and Ultra.
  • Master shots, video extension and image upscaling are listed by Kling as premium-only functions, so a credit pack alone will not unlock them.

Buying extra credits

If you run out mid-month, Kling sells credits outright. The base rate is fixed in its Credits Policy at $1 = 66 credits; larger packs add bonus credits on top.

CreditsPrice$ per 100 credits
330$5$1.52
660$10$1.52
1,320$20$1.52
3,500 (3,300 + 200 bonus)$50$1.43
7,500 (6,600 + 900 bonus)$100$1.33
16,000 (13,200 + 2,800 bonus)$200$1.25
48,000$600$1.25
96,000$1,200$1.25

Purchased credits are valid for two years, are not refundable, and cannot be transferred between accounts or exchanged for a membership. Even the largest pack ($1.25 per 100) costs more per credit than any yearly subscription, which is the clearest signal that Kling wants you on a plan, not on top-ups.

Credit rules that change the real price

Kling's Credits Policy is short but it changes the effective price more than any table above. The rules that matter:

  • Subscription credits are issued monthly and are valid for one month from the day they land. Whatever you have not used by then is gone.
  • When your subscription ends, remaining subscription credits are forfeited. Purchased and promotional credits are unaffected.
  • Purchased credits are valid for two years from the purchase date.
  • Daily login credits for subscribers expire at midnight the same day.
  • Credits with the shortest remaining validity are consumed first, so daily bonuses go before monthly credits, and monthly credits go before purchased packs.
  • Credits are deducted the moment you start a generation. If the generation fails, the credits are refunded.
  • Credits are not money: no cash-out, no refunds, no transfers between accounts, no gifting.

Practical consequence: a Pro subscriber who only generates two or three days a month is paying $32.56 for credits that mostly expire. Match the tier to your actual monthly volume, not to your peak month.

Is Kling AI free?

Yes, with conditions. Anyone can sign up and receive a monthly allowance of free credits without a card. What you cannot do on the free tier is generate more than one video at a time, export at 1080p or 4K, remove the watermark, or use the output commercially.

Kling does not state a fixed number of free credits on its public pricing page; the allowance is displayed after login and has changed several times as promotions come and go. Expect enough for a handful of short clips a month, not for a project.

If you want to test Kling 3.0 specifically, the free tier will show you the model but with a watermark and at 720p or lower. For a fair evaluation of quality, a single Standard month ($6.99) or a $5 pack is the cheapest way to see clean output.

Kling API pricing (per second)

Developers do not buy credits; they buy prepaid "units" at $0.14 each (list price) and models draw down units per second of generated video. This is the only place where Kling publishes exact per-second prices, which makes it the best anchor for understanding what a clip really costs.

API resource packs

  • 5,000 units for $700, 15,000 units for $2,100 (both $0.14 per unit).
  • 30,000 units for $3,780, 45,000 for $5,670, 60,000 for $7,560 (10% off, $0.126 per unit).
  • All packs expire after 180 days with no rollover, and include 20 concurrent generations.

Other API line items

  • Avatar (talking head): 0.4 U ($0.056)/s at 720p, 0.8 U ($0.112)/s at 1080p.
  • Motion Control: 0.9 U ($0.126)/s at 720p, 1.2 U ($0.168)/s at 1080p.
  • Video extension: 2.0 to 3.5 units per call depending on model. Lip sync: 0.5 U per 5 seconds.
  • E-commerce solutions (AI Apparel Replicator, Goods Studio, Video Commerce): 1.0 to 2.0 U per second.

The API has a much higher entry ticket ($700 minimum, 180-day expiry) but the per-second price of a 720p Kling 3.0 clip is $0.084, well under any consumer plan once you factor in expiring credits. It is the right choice only if you generate at scale every month.

What a single video costs

Kling shows the credit cost of a consumer generation inside the app before you click, and that table is not published on a public page. The API prices are public, so the examples below use them as the anchor and then convert to credits at Kling's own base rate of 66 credits per dollar. Treat the credit column as a floor: the app can charge more than the API list price for the same clip.

JobAPI list priceCredit equivalent (66 / $)Note
5 s, 720p, Kling 3.0, no audio$0.42≈ 28 creditsThe default social clip
5 s, 1080p, Kling 3.0, native audio$0.84≈ 55 creditsNeeds a paid tier for 1080p
10 s, 1080p, Kling 3.0, native audio$1.68≈ 111 creditsTwice the seconds, twice the price

5 s, 720p, Kling 2.5 Turbo$0.21≈ 14 creditsOlder model, half the price

Rule of thumb from these numbers: a Standard month (660 credits) is roughly 20 short 720p clips if you stay on the newest model, and closer to 45 if you drop to Kling 2.5 Turbo. Pro (3,000 credits) is about 100 flagship clips a month. Remember that failed generations are refunded, so the count you see in the app is the count you can actually spend.

Which plan should you pick?

Match the tier to the number of clips you finish in a month, not to the number you plan to attempt.

Curious, a few clips a month

Stay on the free tier until the watermark or the 720p cap becomes a problem, then take one Standard month at $6.99. Do not buy a pack first; the $5 pack costs $1.52 per 100 credits, more than any plan.

Weekly social content (10 to 30 clips)

Pro yearly at $293.04 is the value point: $0.81 per 100 credits, 3,000 credits a month, 4 videos per generation and 1080p without the watermark. Monthly Pro at $32.56 is fine if your workload is seasonal, because the credits expire anyway.

Client work or a small studio (100+ clips)

Premier yearly ($728.64) or Ultra yearly ($1,429.99). Ultra's $0.46 per 100 credits is the cheapest credit Kling sells to consumers. Check the Element slot count (150) if you rely on consistent characters.

Building a product on top of Kling

Skip the consumer plans and buy API units. $0.084 per second at 720p and 20 concurrent jobs are a different category of pricing, at the cost of a $700 minimum and a 180-day expiry.

Running Kling 3.0 on CreateVision instead

CreateVision runs Kling 3.0 and Kling 3.0 Turbo alongside Seedance, Grok Imagine, Veo, Hailuo and other models under a single credit balance. Pricing is per second of the exact length you choose (3 to 15 seconds), and you see the total before you generate. Dollar figures use the Starter pack rate of 3,000 credits for $30; the Ultimate plan ($49 for 18,000 credits) brings the per-credit cost to about a quarter of that.

To be direct about it: if Kling is the only model you use and you generate every week, Kling's own Pro or Premier plan will be cheaper per Kling second than running it here. We are not the cheapest place to buy Kling seconds and do not claim to be. The case for generating here is different:

  • One balance, every model. Kling for camera control, Seedance 2.0 for cheap drafts, Grok Imagine 1.5 for photo-to-video, Veo 3.1 for dialogue. No second subscription when the best model for the job changes next month.
  • Pay for the seconds you pick. Any length from 3 to 15 seconds in one-second steps, billed per second, so a 3-second product loop costs 3 seconds of credits and a 15-second shot is a single generation.
  • Failures are refunded automatically, including timeouts, and the cost is shown on the button before you commit.
  • A free daily allowance (80 credits) that is enough to test the cheaper models without a card.

If your goal is simply cheap video rather than Kling specifically, the cheaper models on the same balance are Grok Imagine 1.5 at 5 credits per second (480p) or 10 credits per second (720p), and Seedance 2.0 Mini at 15 to 30 credits per second. A 5-second Grok clip is 25 credits, about $0.25 even at pack rate, and it is the model we recommend for animating a photo.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Kling AI cost per month?

Standard renews at $8.80 a month (660 credits), Pro at $32.56 (3,000 credits), Premier at $80.96 (8,000 credits) and Ultra at $159.99 (26,000 credits). The first month is discounted to $6.99, $25.99, $64.99 and $127.99 respectively. Yearly plans cost $79.20, $293.04, $728.64 and $1,429.99.

Do Kling credits expire?

Yes. Subscription credits are valid for one month from the day they are issued and are forfeited when the subscription ends. Purchased credits last two years. Daily login bonus credits expire at midnight the same day. Kling always spends the soonest-expiring credits first.

Is Kling AI free to use?

A free Basic account receives a monthly allowance of free credits, but it is limited to one video per generation, no 1080p or 4K, a watermark on every clip, and personal use only. Paid tiers remove all four limits.

Can I use Kling AI videos commercially?

Kling grants commercial use rights to paid subscribers only. Content generated on the free tier is for personal use. Read Kling's current terms before publishing paid work, because the commercial clause is tied to the subscription being active.

Are credits refunded if a generation fails?

Yes. Kling deducts credits when a generation starts and refunds them if it fails. Purchased credits themselves are non-refundable and cannot be converted back to cash.

Is the Kling API cheaper than the app?

Per second, yes: a 720p Kling 3.0 clip is $0.084 per second on the API, and there are no expiring monthly credits. But the smallest resource pack is $700, units expire after 180 days, and you need to build your own interface. It only makes sense at real volume.

What is the difference between Standard and Pro?

Beyond credits (660 vs 3,000), Standard is limited to one video per generation and 30 Element slots, while Pro allows four videos per generation and 50 Elements. Both include 1080p, watermark removal, fast-track and commercial use.

How many videos can I make with 660 credits?

Using Kling's API prices as the anchor (66 credits per dollar), a 5-second 720p Kling 3.0 clip is roughly 28 credits, so 660 credits is on the order of 20 flagship clips or about 45 clips on Kling 2.5 Turbo. The in-app cost per clip is displayed before you generate and can be higher than this anchor.
